If you are having problems with your Check-Secure device you can reach us via email at "Contact Us" on this site or phone (949) 709-5838 Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM PST.

Below is a list of commonly asked questions and their solutions. Please check through this list as many of problems can be resolved without our assistance.

PROBLEM:

My Check Secure device is not printing out the correct logo and signature or none at all.

SOLUTION:

Make sure your macro ID numbers are within the ranges of 100-998 with the exception of 201 and 202 which are reserved numbers and should NOT be assigned. If the printer is hooked into a PC (instead of ethernet) then see if you can use it only as a network printer. If that still doesn't work try using a good quality bi directional parallel printer.

PROBLEM:

MICR font is loaded onto Check Secure flash card but the MICR line on the checks doesn't show correct MICR font.

SOLUTION:

Make sure to have MICR font macro assigned with macro ID 999, nothing else when the MICR font is programmed to the Check Secure flash card.

PROBLEM:

When programming the check secure card, the windows software replies with a message saying “The Check secure device is not being recognized”. What’s wrong?

SOLUTION:

Check the device for proper cable connections between the check secure and the computer. On the back of the check secure device determine if the HEX switch is set to 1 for programming mode. If the position of the switch is not set to 1, change it to 1 and press the reset button on the check secure device.

PROBLEM:

The signature and logo resources on the check secure card do not appear on the printed output.

SOLUTION:

Insure that the check secure switch position is set for 0 for normal operation mode. Check for proper cable connections between the check secure and the printer and that the card is fully inserted and well seated in the check secure unit. Within the Advance Function screen in the AS/400 software verify that a Y is entered in the prompt for Use removable Check Secure Security. Also, within the bank file maintenance screen verify that the three digit macro id numbers have been entered.

PROBLEM:

How do I know what the three digit macro id number is associated with my signature or logo macro?

SOLUTION:

With the check secure device attached to the PC, with the device in programming mode and flash card inserted open the programming software. Select show secure card files from the file menu. This will display the name and macro number.

PROBLEM:

Why do logos and signatures not show up on the secure check printing with Check-Secure?

SOLUTION:

Notice of problem when changing Macro ID numbers of files which were created using the design MacMaker. When ID numbers are changed in the installation of files on the check secure PC card, files are changed to no macro file. Check secure software is now being revised.

Also, macro ID assigned when mac files programmed into Check-Secure card shouldn't be changed and macro ID level should be ranged from 500 to 999, any ID outside this range might cause problems.

PROBLEM:

Extra pages print when using check-secure card.

SOLUTION:

This is due to the macro ID being created in an older version of MacMaker, then being changed in a newer version of Check-Secure.

A printer memory dump is occurring, this in turn causes the printer to spit out an extra page. Normally this page has ascii code on it.

Upgrade to versions - MacMaker 4.0 and Check-Secure 3.0.

PROBLEM:

HP LaserJet prints directory on flashcard when card is inserted into the Check-Secure box, but doesn't print when data is sent to it from the computer while the Check-Secure box is used as a pass through.

SOLUTION:

This occurs when the printer is connected to the computer through the Check-Secure box. The printer driver on the computer has the Enable Bidirectional Support check box checked. The box does not support bi-directional data transfers.

To resolve - uncheck the box for Enable Bidirectional Support, then print a test page.

If this doesn't work verify that the printer is a LaserJet printer, and add a new printer using LPT1. For the new printer, specify HP LaserJet Series II. Print a test page to verify correct installation.

PROBLEM:

With Check-Secure, signature is not shown on the checks.

SOLUTION:

Check to see if signature macro is loaded in the CheckSecure card.

If yes, check and match the macro ID for the signature ID in the Bank File Maintenance and the Check Secure card.

Also, test the signature macro presence by turn off ('N') for the value (Use removable Check Secure security) in the Advanced Function inside Form Definition Maintenance, and instead using signature macro ID, use signature name in the Bank File Maintenance. If the signature does not exist in the FORMFMG shared folder, test the signature macro in the CheckSecure by naming the overlay in the Form Definition Maintenance with #SignatureMacroID and test print overlay to see if there is good signature macro in the CheckSecure card.

The data on the check my overlap the signature macro on the check, so try to display data area (DSPDTAARA DSFRM1) and change the data area (CHGDTAARA DSFRM1) new value to be reverted from the old value. Test it again to see if signature is there on the check.

PROBLEM:

How do I inhibit the Check Secure from printing out the directory of files on the check secure card?

SOLUTION:

Switching the HEX position to 2 will inhibit the printing of directories on a sheet of paper.
